California Golden Bears Kevin Moen Ornament Overview
Bringing the wildest finish in collegiate football history to holiday trees, this commemorative ornament honors ‘The Play’ from the 1982 Big Game between California and Stanford. Cal alumni and fans hang this keepsake every December to remember the chaotic five-lateral kickoff return that concluded through the rival marching band.
Commemorative Sports Moment & Legacy
With four seconds left on the clock, Cal fielded a squib kickoff and initiated a dizzying sequence of five laterals across the field. Kevin Moen caught the final lateral, plowed through trombone players who had prematurely stormed the field, and dove into the end zone to secure an unbelievable 25-20 victory.
Ornament Construction & Dual-Sided Artwork
Constructed from thick durable acrylic, this round disc ornament features vibrant full-color printing on both faces. The dye-sublimation process bonds Berkeley blue and California gold pigments into the resin, ensuring lasting clarity.
Holiday Tree Hanging & Fan Cave Display
Measuring three to four inches across, the lightweight ornament balances gracefully on holiday pine branches or fan cave wreaths. The pre-attached satin loop allows quick hanging without separate wires.
Seasonal Care & Long-Term Preservation
Wipe with a soft dry cloth to remove fingerprints. Store inside a padded keepsake box at room temperature between seasons.
