When MGM released Forbidden Planet in 1956, designer Robert Kinoshita’s creation—Robby the Robot—changed the visual language of science fiction cinema forever, becoming the first mechanical character to receive screen billing alongside human stars on a voyage aboard the flying saucer cruiser C-57D to Altair IV. Marking that milestone from 1956 – 2026, the Forbidden Planet Robby The Robot 70th Anniversary Bell Ornament casts seven decades of atomic-age film history into a three-dimensional antique-bronze finish collector bell.
High-Relief Robby Sculpture & Altair IV Planetary Bas-Relief
Instead of a flat printed bauble, the bell wall is sculpted in layered three-dimensional relief with a weathered antique-bronze and burnished pewter patina that catches the glow of Christmas tree lights. At the center of the front face, Robby the Robot projects outward in high relief—complete with his domed head housing intricate internal gyroscopic circuitry, side ear-rings, ribbed collar, rectangular chest control console accented with crimson and amber indicator dots, and outstretched accordion-jointed arms ending in mechanical claw grippers.

Embossed Anniversary Inscriptions & Flying Saucer Clapper
Every angle of the bell incorporates mechanical and cinematic details from the 1950s space-exploration era:
- Bas-Relief Planetary Panorama: Etched into the bronze bell behind Robby are jagged alien mountain crags along the lower flanks, a ringed planet and stars on the upper left, and a hovering flying saucer projecting landing beams on the upper right.
- Riveted Front Plaque & 1956–2026 Rim: Directly beneath Robby’s chest console sits a raised rectangular nameplate with corner rivets embossed with the stylized retro inscription ROBBY THE ROBOT / FATAL PLANET, while the flared lower lip of the bell is stamped in bold raised capitals reading 70th ANNIVERSARY • 1956 – 2026.
- Chain-Suspended Flying Saucer Clapper: Hanging from the interior center of the bell on a brass-toned metal link chain is a sculpted 3D miniature flying saucer clapper modeled after the C-57D space cruiser, suspended just below the bell mouth.
- Riveted Navy Crown Bow: Topping the bell shoulder is a sculpted midnight-navy bow bordered by industrial silver-gray rivets and fitted with a brass-toned eyelet ring and braided gold hanging cord.

Sized in standard 3-to-4-inch ornament proportions, the bell hangs cleanly from pine branches via its braided gold cord during December and moves easily to a home theater rack, sci-fi bookshelf, or desktop hook for year-round display.
