A Century of Cool: From 30th Street Studio Sessions to the 1926–2026 Centennial
Born on May 26, 1926, Miles Davis reshaped the vocabulary of twentieth-century music four times over—moving from the intimate lyrical phrasing of Birth of the Cool and the modal stillness of Columbia’s 30th Street Studio on 1959’s Kind of Blue to the electric textures of Bitches Brew. Just as unmistakable as his Harmon-muted tone was his physical presence in the studio: sleeves gone, shoulders angled back, eyes narrowed in concentration behind a gleaming brass horn. The Miles Davis 100th Anniversary Resin Ornament translates that iconic studio silhouette into a full-length, three-dimensional sculpted resin figurine created for the 1926–2026 centennial.

Rather than printing a flat photograph onto a disc, the ornament is cast in solid resin to capture the natural counter-balance of a horn player mid-phrase—knees slightly bent, torso leaning subtly backward, and both hands locked around the valves of a metallic gold-finished trumpet.

Close inspection reveals how carefully the 360-degree mold separates garment drape, anatomical muscle tone, and instrument hardware. The matte-white sleeveless tank top contrasts cleanly with warm bronze skin tones across the shoulders and forearms, while tailored slate-gray trousers—complete with sculpted belt loops, a black belt with a silver-toned buckle, and natural leg creases—break neatly over polished black dress shoes. At the mouthpiece, the miniature golden trumpet preserves individual valve pistons, finger rings, and a flared bell that catches the warm glow of evergreen string lights.
A gold-toned metal eyelet ring is anchored directly into the crown of the figure’s head at its center of gravity, pre-threaded with a braided metallic-gold hanging cord so Miles hangs upright on pine boughs without tilting forward.

Accompanying the figurine is a rigid matte-black collector box framed by thin gold borders and inscribed MILES DAVIS / 100TH ANNIVERSARY / 1926-2026 / COLLECTIBLE ORNAMENT around a gold-toned studio portrait of the trumpeter. Gifted to a brass player on Christmas morning or displayed beside a turntable and vinyl LP spine collection throughout the year, the box and figurine pair together as a lasting tribute to jazz history.
