"Mounted upon the Formee Cross since 1883, the anchor, fasces, and knight's sword turn a fraternal emblem into a lifelong pledge of charity and unity."
One year after the Knights of Columbus was chartered in New Haven in 1882, First Supreme Knight James T. Mullen designed the heraldic emblem that every council member recognizes at a glance. The Ralph Lauren Knights of Columbus Blue Crewneck Sweater places that historic shield at the heart of a royal-blue long-sleeve pullover accented with twin golden-yellow collar stripes.

Heraldry of the Order Shield & Collegiate Bear Tailoring
Centered against the royal-blue knit, the teddy bear mascot blends Ivy-inspired campus tailoring with the visual symbols of the Order:
- The Formee Cross & Triad Shield:
- Displayed on both the left chest of the bear's jacket and the crown of its handheld navy cap, the multi-color emblem sets a medieval shield over a red-and-white Formee Cross carrying the vertical Roman fasces (unity in authority), the diagonal mariner's anchor (Christopher Columbus and steadfast hope), and the knight's short sword (an errand of mercy).
- K of C Sleeve & Layered Knit Vest:
- Beneath the navy-and-cream snap-front varsity jacket-marked with K of C on the right sleeve-the bear wears a cream cable-textured V-neck vest over a white collared shirt and navy-and-gold striped necktie.
- Cuffed Khaki Chinos & Bit Loafers:
- Pleated tan chinos with turned-up cuffs rest neatly over brown leather bit loafers and white socks.
- 1882 Charter Inscription:
- Below the mascot's loafers, bold gold block letters spell KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS® above white - K of C® - EST. 1882 lettering and golden cursive Ralph Lauren script.
All-Over Dye-Sublimation Comfort & Easy Layering
Constructed from a 95% polyester, 5% spandex blend, this pullover uses all-over dye-sublimation printing to lock the fine lines of the heraldic cross, the shaded cable-knit vest, and the royal-blue ground directly into the fibers. Because there is no rigid embroidery backing inside the chest, the garment drapes smoothly over an Oxford dress shirt and tie during council installations, officer dinners, or autumn family outings.

The 5% spandex blend helps the twin-striped ribbed collar, cuffs, and waistband hold their shape wash after wash. Machine wash cold with similar colors, tumble dry on low heat or hang dry, and do not iron directly on the print.
