No need to speculate here. The big reveal of The Mandalorian season 2 finale has confirmed that The Book of Boba Fett will premiere in January 2021.

Favreau has since told Good Morning America that Fett’s spin will be the next show we’ll see from this galaxy far, far away, landing before season 3 of The Mandalorian.

“What we didn’t say [announced Disney Investor Day] is that the next show – Kathy [Kennedy] says the next chapter – [is] going to be The Boba Fett Book,” Favreau confirmed. “And then we went into production right after that on season 3 of The Mandalorian, back with the main character we all know and love. So very soon, we’re working on pre-production right now while we’re producing on Boba Fett.

Is Boba Fett’s Book Really Mandalorian’s Third Season?

Although parts of the Star Wars community have speculated that The Boba Fett Book could be a completely redesigned third installment of the main show. Shifting focus from Din Djarin and Baby Yoda to Boba Fett, the two series story has now been confirmed as distinct Entities.

“Star Wars The Book of Boba Fett is really separate from season 3 of The Mandalorian,” Favreau said in his Good Morning America interview. He also confirmed that the new show is currently in production, along with revealing this Fett-style logo:

StarWars.com added: “Boba Fett is back. And his story has just begun. “As revealed in a surprise credit ending after The Mandalorian season finale, the legendary bounty hunter’s journey will continue in Star Wars The Book of Boba Fett.”

Boba Fett Book Story: What Happens

Some have speculated that Jon Favreau’s comment on Good Morning America meant that The Book of Boba Fett would begin shortly after the return of the Jedi destruction of the second star of death. However, we think that “soon after” is more likely just a way of saying, and Favreau is vaguely alluding to the period in which the Mandalorian was active, about five years after the Return of the Jedi.

For example, we know that Jabba’s Palace coda must take place after the events of The Mandalorian season 2 when Boba Fett wears the iconic Mando armor recovered from Cobb Vanth in Mos Pelgo in “The Marshal.” – presumably Fett and Fennec Shand flew to Tatooine after Din Djarin gave Grogu to Luke Skywalker.

Thus, we assume that the show will focus on Boba Fett’s efforts to seize control of the criminal empire Jabba the Hutt left behind: the small number of hangers in Bib Fortuna’s yard shows Business is not as good as it used to be.

As a longtime partner of Fett, Dengar is of particular interest. Not only was he voiced by Simon Pegg in The Clone Wars, but Pegg told Collider he was ready to return to the role in the live-action, which is believed to have him still alive three decades later in the era of The Clone Wars Rise of Skywalker. That said (according to SlashFilm) he was completely different back then, a strange and grotesque cyborg named Rothgar Deng – Dengar’s journey to his new form could well be an important part of the story.

Fett could easily visit Cobb Vanth to compare notes on this famous armor, as both are based on Tatooine. And the show can also explore the various criminal organizations operating in this galaxy far, far away, like an interstellar godparent story. In fact, the history of the Crimson Dawn (the organization led by Darth Maul in Solo) remains unresolved.

So perhaps The Book of Boba Fett will pick up the pending topics. And any trip outside of Tatooine would give us an excuse to see Fett’s iconic ship the Slave I in action.

Fett would be the ideal guide through these dark worlds, as his The Mandalorian installment sees him grow from villain to anti-hero. Remember, Fett is known to be the most feared bounty hunter in the galaxy, so helping Mando save his Grogu revealed a code of honor we didn’t even know existed.

Behind the camera, Mandalorian’s brain relies on Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni to executive produce, along with Robert Rodriguez. The Sin City/Alita: Battle Angel director stepped into the early stages of Star Wars after leading Fett’s big return in episode two of The Mandalorian “The Tragedy”.

Every episode of The Mandalorian is available to stream on Disney Plus. Boba Fett’s book will be released on Disney Plus today December 29, 2021, in XNUMX.
