First sketched by cartoonist Charles Addams for The New Yorker in 1938 and brought to theatrical life in director Barry Sonnenfeld’s 1991 black comedy, the Addams household has always treated gloomy weather, graveyard strolls, and antique torture devices as the height of domestic warmth. Marking three and a half decades since that 1991 film arrived in theaters, The Addams Family 35th Anniversary Advent Calendar turns the stretch from October spooky season through December 24 into a 24-day gothic diorama build.
The horizontal rigid paperboard exterior sets the scene before the first compartment is opened. Beneath silver gothic lettering and a circular black-and-gold 35TH ANNIVERSARY / 1991–2026 seal, the full-wrap cover illustration gathers the family in front of their moonlit Second Empire mansion framed by bare, twisted tree branches. Each of the 24 numbered daily compartments reveals a freestanding three-dimensional molded PVC/vinyl miniature built to stand directly on a library shelf, coffee table, or study desk without hanging strings.

Inside the 24 Doors: From Gomez and Morticia to Cousin Itt and Lurch
Over half of the 24-day lineup is dedicated to stylized 3D character figurines that capture the distinct silhouettes and wardrobe details of the family roster. Patriarch Gomez Addams appears with his pencil mustache in tailored suiting, paired alongside gothic matriarch Morticia Addams in her floor-length black gown. Deadpan daughter Wednesday Addams wears her signature braided pigtails and white-collared black dress across multiple poses, accompanied by brother Pugsley Addams in his horizontal striped shirt and shorts.
Rounding out the household relatives are bald, dark-robed Uncle Fester (including a pose holding his signature lightbulb at his mouth), towering green-gray butler Lurch in his solemn dark suit, floor-length golden-haired Cousin Itt topped with dark round sunglasses and a purple-banded bowler hat, a textured mud-covered creature figure, and a jet-black Raven companion.
Second Empire Mansion Architecture, Macabre Props, and Freestanding Tabletop Balance

What turns this countdown into a complete display scene are the sculpted architectural pieces and household artifacts interspersed throughout the calendar. Collectors unbox a weathered gray Addams Family Mansion miniature with a steeped mansard roof, a black wrought-iron Cemetery Gate flanked by stone pillars, a five-arm golden Candelabra with white taper candles, a gold-framed Family Portrait, an upright brown Coffin stamped with a white skeletal handprint, a gray Tombstone carved with a black rose, a white geometric Spiderweb, a miniature Electric Chair, a corked green glass Potion Bottle, and a tiny Snow Globe enclosing Gomez and Morticia. Fans of classic gothic and Victorian mystery bookshelves can also pair the Addams clan with the Sherlock Holmes mystery advent calendar figures.
