The first hit “Bohemian Rhapsody” made Queen famous all over the world. Freddie Mercury later died in 1991 of an AIDS-related illness.

Metallica is an American heavy metal band formed in 1981. The original members included James Hetfield (Vocalist and rhythm guitar), Dave Mustaine (Lead Guitar), Lars Ulrich (Drums), Ron McGovney ( bassist). Metallica suddenly shined shortly after the release of the Metallica album, which contained the famous hit “Enter Sandman”.

Nirvana disbanded after Kurt Cobain’s suicide in 1994. Another drummer, David Grohl, joined later and the group relaunched as the Foo Fighters, pursuing an alternative rock style.

The Who is still active to this day, but sadly Keith Moon passed away in 1978 at the age of 32 from a drug overdose. John Entwistle also died soon after. And Entwistle died of drug abuse in 2002 at the age of 57. Townshend was later charged with child prostitution but was found innocent. However, The Who is still recognized as one of the most influential musical talents in rock history.

8. Linkin Park

Linkin Park is an American rock band formed in Agoura Hills, California, in 1996, consisting of Chester Bennington (vocals), Mike Shinoda (vocalist, pianist, Rapper), Brad Delson (guitar), Dave “Phoenix” ” Farrell (bass), Joe Hahn (DJ) and Rob Bourdon (drums).

Linkin Park’s music is a mix of Nu-metal and rap-rock. Some of Linkin Park’s internationally influential songs include Nine Inch Nails, Deftones, The Roots, and Aphex Twin.

 

 

Linkin Park became famous worldwide with the debut album Hybrid Theory released in 2000. The album received a diamond certification by the RIAA in 2005 and platinum awards in many countries around the world. The song “In the End” is considered one of the greatest rock songs of the 21st century.

Linkin Park has sold more than 68 million albums worldwide and has won two Grammy Awards.

Green Day is an American punk rock band formed in East Bay, California in 1987. Members include Billie Joe Armstrong (lead vocals, guitar), Mike Dirnt (bass), Tré Cool (drums), and Jason White (guitar).

Green Day pursues music that combines punk rock and alternative rock. Some of the group’s top hits include The Ramones, Sex Pistols, NOFX, Bad Religion. Their album “American Idiot” sold 6 million copies in the US and won a Grammy for “Best Rock Album”. During her career, Green Day has sold more than 75 million records worldwide and has won 5 Grammy Awards. Green Day was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2015.

10. Black Sabbath

Black Sabbath is a heavy metal band formed in 1968 by guitarist and songwriter Tony Iommi, Singer Ozzy Osbourne, Bassist and songwriter Geezer Butler, and Drummer Bill.

Black Sabbath got off to a rough start with many negative reviews from its debut album. However, soon after, they quickly improved and fixed their skills and gradually released cult hits. In 1978, Ozzy was forced out of the group and replaced by former Rainbow singer Ronnie James Dio, who released two albums before leaving the group in 1983 and returning to the group in 1992. The group’s last album  “13” was released in 2013. On May 16, 2010, Ronnie James Dio passed away from stomach cancer.
